Higher education institutions are recognised as pivotal in addressing global challenges, particularly those encapsulated in the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Several barriers, such as financial constraints, a lack of awareness and understanding, and a missing Culture of Sustainability, are preventing universities to implement sustainable development holistically.

The Recommendation Document for Sustainable Development Strategies for HEIs addresses the existing barriers. It provides 10 easy recommendations, focusing on HEIs’ contribution to increased entrepreneurial activity, local communities, civic society, and progressive policy implementation. The recommendations are founded in an extensive literature review, best practice examples, interviews, and established European resources. By adopting these strategic recommendations, institutions can not only align with global sustainability priorities but also cultivate a culture of innovation, responsibility, and resilience within their communities.

Join us in shaping a sustainable future for higher education and beyond. Download our recommendations now and take the first step towards making a lasting impact on society and the planet.
